Central Foundation Girls' School – Years 12-13
We wanted to give people the confidence to roam their communities safely and provide care in the right place at the right time, without any major costs. We wanted to find a way to reduce knife crime so fewer resources go to preventable incidents. The statistics around crime in London compelled our team to not just focus on reducing knife crime but also on providing help in an emergency linked with knife crime. We designed an ‘emergency distress program’ that can alert authorities to stabbings and provide the victims with the suitable services as soon as possible. And we quickly realised our solution could easily respond to other crimes and even provide basic first aid instructions in time-sensitive scenarios.
Our technology is scalable and future versions can include video instructions and step-by-step images to show how to perform certain first aid, such as the recovery position. It can be further enhanced to include a basic first aid kit and defibrillator. To emphasize sustainability, the technology could be connected to solar panels to provide a sustainable energy source.
