Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, the US bio-pharma company, was preparing to launch unique new treatments for rare genetic obesity disorders for which there are currently no effective or approved treatments.
Within the last two years, Rhythm listed on the stock market, had more than doubled its team, and was preparing for commercialization. After focusing primarily on research and clinical activities, Rhythm was looking to quickly expand its capabilities to deal with patient and medical community engagement, manufacturing, distribution, marketing and sales.
But to support its growth, Rhythm needed to enhance its IT function. Our life sciences experts conducted an assessment to identify the IT capabilities needed and developed a IT roadmap with key priorities.
We looked in detail at the organization’s functions and identified the IT systems and solutions they absolutely needed to meet their business milestones over a three-year horizon as well as the broader IT capabilities that would be necessary to support their growth ambitions.
We provided detailed guidance on how to improve governance processes and controls around IT investment and project management and supported Rhythm in managing a number of complex technology programmes. These programmes included introducing an ERP system to manage public reporting requirements and better data storage and analysis capabilities to handle the growing volume of research data.
And we’ve been providing interim CIO services to help the organization steer and manage these projects. We’ve paved the way for Rhythm Pharmaceuticals’ IT infrastructure to fully support the organizations’ ambitions.
“In close collaboration with Rhythm Leadership, PA helped Rhythm chart a multi-year IT Strategy, implement IT governance and robust project management capabilities and implement several major systems projects successfully. This was accomplished with improving IT service delivery and security. The PA team integrated well with a very committed Rhythm team and helped us deliver critical strategic direction. We are grateful to PA Consulting for supporting us through this formative period.”
