America's cup 2017

The America's Cup is an extreme sailing event, it features high speed, action-packed, inshore racing with the best sailors in the world competing on hydrofoiling, wing-sailed 45ft catamarans, “flying” at up to 80km/hour.

In 2015, we partnered with Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie and the Land Rover BAR team, in their challenge to win the America's Cup in 2017. Together we won the America's Cup World Series in 2016 and made it all the way to the semi finals on the America's cup in Bermuda in 2017 - a fantastic achievement for a first time challenger.

We look forward to bringing the cup home in the 36th America's Cup.

The technical innovation group

Together, PA and Land Rover BAR launched the Technical Innovation Group (TIG) to bring together the best of British industry to contribute to this unique technical and sporting challenge.

The task of the TIG was to find advanced technologies and develop them to provide a competitive edge to the team. The TIG, chaired by us, initiated and guided the design team with an external, world-class, multidisciplinary research and development group. The TIG was made up of PA, Land Rover, BAE Systems, BT, Renishaw and BMT Nigel Gee.
