The company’s core business is generating power from fossil fuels, which is in rapid decline due to the transition to renewable sources. So they asked us to help them redefine their business for the decade ahead and find new areas of opportunity and potential for growth.
When we develop strategy with clients, we make sure they’re fully involved. So we brought together 20 of the company’s most senior people for a workshop. We worked with them to come up with over 100 ideas for where and how they might compete successfully in future. With detailed analysis of the potential scenarios, and drawing on our deep expertise in strategy and energy, we identified a shortlist of the most promising options. These formed the basis for a growth strategy, which we put forward to the Board who approved it immediately.
We’d collaborated closely with the strategy team, and had meetings with the Board and executive committee throughout the project. They decided to implement the plan straight away. They now have a clear vision of where their future lies and a robust plan for how they can grow and prosper in a market undergoing radical change.
