New York, NY – PA Consulting Group announced the winners of the 2002 ReliabilityOne™ Awards during a ceremony held November 15, 2002 at the Grand Hyatt in New York, NY. The annual RelaibilityOne™ Awards honors the most reliable utilities in North America every year. Winners are chosen using a rigorous, quantitatively driven process to identify the very best performers in each region of North America. Each award recipient undergoes both a quantitative analysis of industry standard reliability statistics and a qualitative review of reliability performance and local published commentary. This year’s winners are:
· Northeast Region- Consolidated Edison Company of New York
· Mid-Atlantic Region- Public Service Electric & Gas
· Southeast Region- Orlando Utilities Commission
· Midwest- We Energies
· Plains- NorthWestern Energy
· West- Southern California Edison
· Community Utility- Roseville Electric
· Overall National Winner- Consolidated Edison Company of New York
PA’s primary source of reliability data is our industry-leading Transmission and Distribution Benchmarking Program, the most comprehensive and detailed source of North American cost, reliability and best practice data available in the industry. Once preliminary winners are chosen, each company undergoes an on-site certification process, which provides an independent review of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company’s reliability results.
This year’s winners show outstanding dedication to reliable electrical service, with the lowest outage rates in North America. While the average customer of a North American utility experienced a total of 1.5 sustained outages, lasting around three hours total, in 2001, ReliabilityOne™ award winners provided their customers with reliable service for all but one hour or less last year. This is 200% better than the average.
