Florida Power & Light Company wins the National Reliability Award at PA Consulting’s 25th annual ReliabilityOne® Awards

13 November 2025

At last night’s 25th Annual ReliabilityOne® Awards ceremony, PA Consulting (PA), the global innovation and transformation consultancy, awarded the National Reliability Award to Florida Power & Light Company. Six additional utilities were also recognized for outstanding reliability and resiliency achievements in their respective regions.

PA Consulting’s ReliabilityOne® program is committed to working with US utilities to improve power grid reliability and resiliency. On average, ReliabilityOne® program participant utilities experience 55 percent fewer sustained power outages, and their collective system saw 60+ percent shorter outage durations than the average US investor-owned utility.

The ReliabilityOne® Awards recognize North American utilities that excelled during the 2024 calendar year in critical industry categories including resiliency, security, reliability, customer engagement, and new in this year’s program – affordability considerations. Founded in 2000, PA Consulting’s annual ReliabilityOne® Awards are widely considered to be one of the most prestigious honors in the electric utility industry, recognizing top performers and best practices that promote innovation and technology advancement, deliver top reliability and resiliency performance, balance overall costs, and deliver the greatest value to their customers.

For 25 years, our ReliabilityOne® recipients have demonstrated sustained year-over-year reductions in outage frequencies and outage durations, leading the industry for reliability improvement best practices while keeping affordability front and center of what they do. We are excited to announce that Florida Power & Light Company has been recognized as this year’s most reliable US utility. Florida Power & Light Company has consistently delivered strong operational performance with a focus on maintaining affordable rates.”
PA Consulting’s ReliabilityOne® Program Director

PA’s certification and analyses of the utilities in the ReliabilityOne® program found that:

  • Investor-owned utilities as a group delivered improved reliability in 2024 compared to 2023, with average IOUs achieving 3 percent reductions in both SAIFI and SAIDI. At the same time, utilities are placing greater emphasis on tracking and reporting customer-centric metrics (e.g., CEMI, CELID) that reflect a more accurate view of the customer experience.
  • Utilities are continuing to address rising load growth driven by electrification of end uses and transportation, as well as increased demand from large loads such as data centers. This growth reflects a concentration of demand rather than expansion of service area footprints, and utilities are actively pursuing enhancements to their interconnection processes.
  • Artificial intelligence and advanced analytics have been deployed to enhance operations. Utilities are leveraging data more comprehensively, from sub-cycle waveform analytics that support near real-time risk mitigation, to visual data analytics that inform asset management and major event response. These tools are improving situational awareness and enabling more efficient routing of utility and contractor field forces during major events, helping reduce overall restoration times.

PA recognized regional ReliabilityOne® award recipients from utilities across the US, based on overall system wide SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI performance.

The list of all award recipients is as follows:
