Lead AI Architect - Build PA's AI Capability
Job description
We're building out our AI capability team in Copenhagen and are looking for a Lead AI Architect to be its technical center of gravity. You'll set the technical direction for how we design and deliver enterprise AI solutions to our clients, taking architecture from the whiteboard into production. This is a role for someone who is deeply curious about technology and continually exploring what's next in AI.
You're the person who has already tried the latest model release, built something with a new agent framework, and can explain why it matters. More importantly, you can say whether it's ready for a regulated enterprise.
You're equally at home in a room with a client's executive team. You can explain an architecture decision in terms of risk, cost, speed and competitive advantage, without losing either the technical integrity or the audience.
You'll work with leading organisations on some of the most complex challenges in financial services, the public sector, energy, life sciences and other regulated industries across the Nordics and global markets.
What you'll do
Own the technical vision of the AI capability team
- Define reference architectures, reusable patterns and technical standards for enterprise AI solutions.
- Track the fast-moving AI landscape, including models, frameworks, tooling and infrastructure, and decide what we adopt, test or ignore.
- Build accelerators, reusable components and demos that make our delivery faster and our proposals more convincing.
Architect and build enterprise AI solutions
- Design end-to-end solutions spanning data integration, retrieval and knowledge layers, model orchestration, agentic workflows, security and operations.
- Stay hands-on. Prototype, write code, review code and unblock delivery teams when it gets hard.
- Take solutions from proof of concept to scalable, secure, production-grade systems integrated with clients' existing enterprise landscapes.
Shape agentic and knowledge-driven architectures
- Design multi-agent systems, tool-using agents and human-in-the-loop workflows that automate real business processes.
- Build the foundations that make AI useful at enterprise scale: unified data access, institutional memory, and the capture and reuse of organizational knowledge.
- Put evaluation, observability, guardrails and cost control in place from day one.
Translate technology for executives
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to CxOs, CIOs and CTOs at our clients.
- Explain architecture choices and trade-offs, such as build vs. buy, cloud vs. sovereign, open vs. proprietary models, and platform vs. point solution, in clear business terms.
- Support business development through technical solutioning, client workshops and proposal architecture.
Grow the team and collaborate across PA and Jacobs
- Mentor engineers, data scientists and consultants, and raise the technical bar across PA.
- Work closely with engineers, data scientists and technical specialists from Jacobs. Combine their deep engineering and infrastructure expertise with PA's AI and transformation capabilities to deliver solutions neither could deliver alone.
- Collaborate with PA's international AI and engineering experts, and contribute to our thought leadership in Europe.
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience architecting and delivering AI, data or software solutions in enterprise environments, as an architect, principal engineer, tech lead or CTO.
- Deep, practical knowledge of modern AI engineering, for example:
- LLMs, both frontier and open-weight, prompt and context engineering, fine-tuning and model selection
- RAG, vector databases, knowledge graphs and semantic layers
- Agentic frameworks and orchestration, tool use, and protocols such as MCP
- LLMOps and MLOps, evaluation frameworks, observability and AI security
- Strong cloud and platform experience with Azure, AWS or GCP, and modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric.
- Solid software engineering skills. You can still build things yourself, typically in Python and/or TypeScript.
- A strong understanding of enterprise architecture, integration, identity and security in complex organizations.
- Working knowledge of responsible AI, the EU AI Act, GDPR and data sovereignty, and how they shape architecture decisions.
- The ability to communicate complex technology clearly and convincingly to non-technical senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in cross-organizational, multidisciplinary teams that bring together engineers, data scientists and business consultants.
- Real curiosity. You experiment constantly, and you have opinions backed by evidence.
- Fluent English and Danish.
It's a plus if you have:
- Consulting or client-facing advisory experience.
- Experience in financial services, the public sector, energy, health or other regulated industries.
- Experience building and leading technical teams or communities of practice.
- Public contributions such as open-source work, talks, articles or side projects you're proud of.
We don't expect you to tick every box. If this role excites you, we'd love to hear from you.
What we offer
- The opportunity to define and build the technical direction of a strategic, growing AI capability at PA.
- Hands-on work with the latest AI technologies on problems that matter, for clients across Europe.
- Direct exposure to executive decision-makers and their biggest transformation agendas.
- A curious, ambitious team with a strong community feel, backed by the combined global network of PA and Jacobs: AI, data, engineering and innovation experts working together on some of the most complex challenges in industry and society.
- Room to grow in both breadth and depth: technically, commercially and as a leader.
