We’ve helped a government directorate through the biggest technology, cultural and behavioural transformation since they replaced typewriters with computers.
The directorate’s systems were too complex, and too hard to use and maintain. To be able to manage information more effectively, they needed to design and build better technology. They also needed a dramatic behavioural and cultural shift to make sure they used new technology properly.
Over three years we helped transform how 6,500 people worked. We engaged staff by getting them excited about the future in a way that encouraged them to plan how they’d work differently. We helped the business ‘own’ the change by creating a team in each department to take responsibility for managing information. We built a change network encompassing over 10 per cent of the organisation, giving them the skills and support to make change happen.
We worked closely with individual teams to understand their processes in detail and design new ways of working. Through training for all staff, and working through the most challenging issues with individual teams, we made sure everyone could hit the ground running from day one of the new systems. And that, in turn kept the organisation running smoothly through the go-live period.
We achieved unprecedented engagement: 95 per cent of staff completed their training and 85 per cent engaged with our communications campaigns and immersive experiences. That means staff are now enjoying working with a better system, where great information management is back at the heart of the organisation.
