The challenge for Carnival UK – which operates the Cunard Line and P&O Cruises brands – was that its business had grown from three to ten ships in 15 years but its supply chain hadn’t developed at the same pace. As a result, it was working with a complex range of products, high levels of inventory and long lead times.
Carnival UK asked PA to create an entirely new supply chain process, covering every step from initial demand to financial report. Our team of supply chain experts reviewed the products the ships needed and introduced a new system that organised all items into clear categories. We recommended cutting the number of individual items by over 40% and the number of suppliers from 400 to 250. Our work led to savings of £2.5 million a year.
