PA Consulting Group and NHS Education for Scotland partner to transform healthcare education and training with the next generation of digital solutions

PA Consulting Group has been selected by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) as their digital partner to develop and exploit the NES Digital Platform.

In support of the health and wealth objectives of the public sector which aim to ensure that Scotland is a world leading centre for innovation in health through partnership working between Government, NHS Scotland, industry and the research community, the new NES and PA digital partnership called TURAS will:

  • create the leading technology platform for regulated health and care training organisations
  • develop a suite of digital products and services that deliver an excellent user experience to trainees, the wider workforce, trainers and training managers
  • generate a revenue stream for NHS Education for Scotland, to be used to support further innovation in education and training.

Building on the foundation provided by the TURAS system – which NES developed in 2014 to manage education and training for Scotland’s 7,000 trainee doctors, dentists, pharmacists, healthcare scientists and clinical psychologists – the digital partnership will develop, enhance, deploy, host and support digital products and services tailored to individual client requirements. PA Consulting Group will help to commercialise the digital platform, providing a return on investment which will be used by NES for further innovative work.

Caroline Lamb, Chief Executive Officer at NHS Education for Scotland, said: “Our partnership with PA is an exciting new development for a public sector body in Scotland. It will allow us to exploit the fantastic digital infrastructure we are building, without creating a distraction from our core business of training and developing Scotland’s health and social care workforce. In PA we have found a partner that we trust, and which brings complementary capabilities and a strong vision for the future.”

Lesley Fordyce, who leads PA Consulting Group’s government and energy work in Scotland said: “We are delighted to have been selected by NHS Education for Scotland as their digital partner. We feel privileged to be involved with such a pioneering organisation and look forward to working with NES colleagues to take these excellent digital products from Scotland to other markets.”
