Energy and Utilities expert Jeremy Klingel joins PA Consulting

Distributed energy expert Jeremy Klingel has joined PA Consulting (PA), the consultancy that’s bringing ingenuity to life, as a Partner in the Energy and Utilities Practice. Jeremy will help lead the continued rapid expansion of the firm’s Grid Modernization, Customer Digital Experience and Analytics capabilities to better support Utility clients, as well as serve the Integrated Infrastructure needs of the Commercial & Industrial market.

Previously Jeremy served as Global Head of Distributed Energy for Black & Veatch, responsible for a portfolio of services spanning technical advisory, engineering, procurement and construction across Power Distribution, Distributed Generation, and Asset Management. Prior to this role, Jeremy led the Power business line for Black & Veatch Management Consulting and founded the firm’s Distribution Modernization & Customer Experience Offering.

Jeremy brings extensive experience in leading utilities and their customers toward a sustainable, resilient, and economically-viable power supply. In practice, this entails the design and implementation of critical infrastructure solutions that are reshaping today’s policy and investment.

Prior to joining Black & Veatch, Jeremy directed consulting services for Comverge, a leading demand-side management company and established an energy practice at Perficient, to serve utilities embracing behind-the-meter product development, dynamic rate design, and progressive customer engagement models. He began his consulting career with Proudfoot Consulting, where he established a solid foundation in operational improvement across a variety of industries including mining, manufacturing, retail, and engineering.

Clients hire PA to anticipate the future, champion innovation, and unlock new potential in energy and utilities markets. Earlier this year, PA’s US energy and utilities team launched iPredict™, the world’s first artificially intelligent system for predicting failures in critical underground electricity distribution assets.  PA’s Utility practice is committed to helping Utility clients with their goals around decarbonization, electrification of transport, improving the customer experience and innovating to improve the reliability and resiliency of the grid.

Ross Smith, US Utility practice lead at PA Consulting, says: “We are excited to welcome Jeremy to the team. PA is the leading advisor in the clean energy transformation and we continue to grow in response to our Utility clients’ need for pragmatic, practical advice on how to navigate a complex policy, regulatory, market, customer and emerging technology landscape. Jeremy’s expertise will help us further our goal of helping our clients deliver safe, affordable, reliable and clean energy.”

Jeremy Klingel, Energy and Utilities Expert at PA Consulting, says: “The energy landscape has never been more dynamic, punctuated by compelling events ranging from climatic, economic, and unfortunately, pandemic. The traditional utility model is evolving to address the reality of distributed energy, decarbonization, and digitization, but this evolution cannot happen in a vacuum. It requires the input and collaboration from customers of all shapes and sizes, policy-makers, and innovators.”

Jeremy continues: “PA possesses the unique capability to advise across this ecosystem, while serving a broad spectrum of clients ranging from energy, utility, telecom, and transportation. The nexus of these industries is central to shaping tomorrow’s intelligent infrastructure. It is a privilege to join a firm with such a strong team of industry experts as we begin to orchestrate the foundations for the next gen grid.”
