Metering minefield

"Public perception of utilities is not very good, so to add in data mismanagement will further destroy what trust the public still has."

MARC TRITSCHLER, ENERGY CONSULTING,

PA’s Marc Tritschler, energy expert at PA Consulting Group, is quoted in an article in Utility Week. Marc gives his views on why it is important for utilities to lock crime out of smart metering and smart grids, to ensure they don’t shatter already-fragile consumer trust.

Commenting on the impact data and infrastructure security issues could have on a company's reputation, Marc says there will be many parties "that will have access to customer information that will not be familiar with handling this data and the protection that applies to it ... already public perception of utilities is not very good, so to add in data mismanagement will further destroy what trust the public still has".
