Buyers’ market: Daily rates fail to match fall in demand

Richard Brass
The Financial Times - Business of Consulting Report, page 2
16 November 2009

Consultancy today is a buyers’ market the Financial Times reports in its Business of Consulting report.

Colm Reilly, head of government practice at PA Consulting Group gives his views on the consulting market: “The cutback in consultancy spend really just accelerated an ongoing process that would continue irrespective of the economic situation.  Buyers are getting much more knowledgeable about how to buy, what to buy and how to trigger success in the buying process.”

You can read the article in full here and also read PA’s comments on the state of the profession, the financial services sector, on public sector consulting, on consultancy recruitment from the defence sector and on what responsible consulting means. The report also features an article dedicated to PA's work in Iraq, based on an interview with consultant Angus Jackson who spent four years working on a project in southern Iraq to help restore safe water supplies in the Basra region.
