Solar proving more stable than wind

Power generation from utility-scale solar photovoltaic facilities is proving more stable than output from wind projects, so far, a report released Monday by credit rating agency FitchRatings said.

Matt Mooren said: “Americans’ growing support for green energy reflects “greater confidence in the economy and, all else equal, greater willingness to pay for premium green products.”  

He added: “Moreover, the premium for green products have declined substantially — see utility solar contracts for $40/MWh — such that in some cases the premium for these products have been greatly minimized, making it more of a ‘pure play’ economic decision.”
