Productivity – who’s working harder?

Hashi Syedain

People Management

1 April 2014

Elissa Coward, PA talent management expert, is quoted in an article which explores the HR function’s role in improving productivity.

In the article, Elissa explains why effective people management is critical to raising productivity in every organisation: “If you think about organisational drivers of productivity, they are people, process and technology […] It’s about how they work together”, she says.

The article goes on to describe how giving employees more freedom to self-regulate can also play a key role in driving productivity.

According to Elissa: “You need to ask the right questions […] HR directors need to let go of the checklist and learn to be more insight-driven, to understand the business and customer needs. What’s the source of competitive advantage now and in the future and how can HR be part of creating it?”
