Jack Torrance, web editor at Management Today has published an article online examining what was discussed by Ocado’s chief technology officer when it comes to making a business more innovative at last week’s Disruption Summit. The Summit was hosted by Disruption Magazine and PA Consulting Group.
Paul Clarke, chief technology officer at Ocado, a keynote speaker at the event discussed innovation. He explained that working at Ocado is like being on a rollercoaster that's still under construction “you come around the corner, you think you know what to expect, but you find somebody has slapped a whole new barrel role there that wasn't there the previous time.” He goes on to say that if there were no other bigger challenges around the next corner then they probably wouldn’t retain the talent that they have accumulated in their business.
The article goes on to examine how other businesses can create a culture of innovation, including actively tolerating risks and empowering employees.
