PA Consulting's Head of Nordics, Søren Knudsen, talks to IT-Watch about PA's strategy, innovation and future in Denmark.
IT Watch reports on PA Consulting Denmark’s year of strong growth in 2019. Revenue in Denmark has grown by 24 per cent to DKK 312 million and profit increased from DKK 17 million in 2018 to DKK 43 million.
The article quotes PA Head of Nordics, Søren Knudsen:
"We’ve bet on fewer, larger customers in selected sectors. This puts us in a better position to focus our skills on helping our customers, rather than spreading ourselves thinly in the wider market," he says.
This also means that the consultancy is investing less heavily in some other sectors.
"A focused strategy involves opting out, but that’s a hard process because you have to leave behind some of the things you think about most often. It’s not easy to opt out of serving some customers who you’ve spent a lot of time on in the past. It’s a transformation that takes time," Søren says.
The global strategy has also meant PA Consulting has repositioned itself in the Danish market.
"We have actually been implementing it for some time, but it’s bearing fruit for us now. We’re satisfied with the 2019 result. We delivered the revenue growth we had expected. Our global board expected it too," Søren says.
"We probably have a more distributed delivery model, where our consultants are used even more globally. And our entire internal set-up is that there’s really no difference between us using someone who is based inside or outside the country's borders."
"When we're ready, we're going to add more sectors. We’re being very careful not to put everything in motion at once. We've learned that it takes critical mass in every new sector you enter, and we want to do it right," Søren continues.
