What keeps IT managers awake at night?

IT Adviser

20 September 2013

Chris Saunders, PA IT expert, is quoted in a feature on what keeps IT managers awake at night. Different industry experts share their concerns on the key issues facing the IT industry with trends such as cloud, big data, connectivity and cyber security all playing a big part in the way businesses operate.

Chris explains that IT managers are kept awake at night with the worry of projects failing: “IT managers worry that their IT projects will probably only deliver 60 per cent of what is required, and will go 60 per cent over budget and time. The worry stems from not knowing how it happened and what to do to put it right, or how to admit it to a set of customers who don’t and won’t understand. Why didn’t they do something about it earlier?”

He goes on to explain the importance of infrastructure and explains his concerns: “The sound of the air conditioning leaking on to the server array. Or, why is it that my kids get better service on their iPads and notebooks than my clients?”
