Value of Smart Information Technology Still Unrealized

An article spotlighting PA’s new global survey of over 200 global business leaders on how data and smart technology are used to enhance business value, noted that business benefits from analytics, sustainability, mobile business and security initiatives are slow to be realised due to organisational silos, lack of middle management support and leader consensus.

Ted Bissell, mobile specialist and smart technology expert at PA Consulting Group, highlighted key points of the survey results, and was quoted as saying:  “In many cases, it’s middle management who is resistant to change. Smart change requires top management support and control of the execution. Leaders have to say, ‘We are going to implement this technology and make sure it hits everyone in the firm, and it’s not just lip service.’”    

Noting that one-third of respondents said their organisations use only a fraction of the data assets they hold, Ted said that “Harnessing information already in the enterprise is a huge opportunity, as many organizations have a large amount of data.”
