Is DWS right to have a flattened structure?

Katherine O’Halloran, people and talent expert at PA Consulting, discusses ways to strip out management hierarchy in an article about DWS, a German asset manager, which plans to move to a flatter corporate structure.

The article goes on to talk about adapting roles and creating new opportunities. On this, Katherine says: "Trading roles is a good way to open up new opportunities. This is where an employee who wants to learn a new skill can ask a colleague to trade a role. Employees need to be able to accurately self-assess where their talents best lie, supported by focused feedback."

She adds: "All this has to happen in an environment where everyone knows they have responsibility for business success".
