Ease of use will decide ewallets’ fate

Stephen Pritchard

Financial Times

4 December 2014

PA’s John Skipper, a technology expert, is quoted in an article in the Financial Times on the future of the online payments industry.

Commenting on the customer experience and take up of online payment systems, John says that payment systems have to be easy for consumers. He goes on to say that a big barrier to adoption has been confusion about how systems work.

John goes on to explain that Pingit was a success among Barclays’ customers because it was clear and straight forward to use, however failed to become widely adopted, because it was too inaccessible for non-Barclays customers.
