Crouching tiger, hidden leader

Lucy Quinton
Financial Director
1 April 2010

FDs are more visible now than ever and must take a greater lead in data use, decision-making and creating relationships, according to this article in Financial Director.

The article argues that the recession has put FDs in the spotlight and they are now performing a broader role with.  Commenting on whether the recession has been a blessing or a curse, PA’s Simon Tennant says: “CFOs must prepare their organisations to live in a world dominated by powerful forces of half-dead, half-alive zombies.”

The article goes on to comment that in the zombie world banks, governments, consumers and companies are all entities that appear to be recovering but are only half-alive. Simon believes that it will be at least two years before CFOs can hope for ‘business as usual’.
