Critical infrastructure in Mexico under cyberattack

Read the article in Spanish here.

Mikel Santos, cybersecurity expert at PA Consulting, discusses cyberattacks on the Mexican energy sector and Latin American cybersecurity investments.

Mikel says: "We have information that there have been incidents of cybersecurity that have had an impact on critical Mexican infrastructure. It has not been published but the reality is that we have had communications. I can´t reveal where they have been but almost at the generalized level there have been attacks of ransomware but didn't affect in the operation but rather in the field of pre-operation, information management.”

He adds: "There are also cases we know of that have been isolated and even stopped areas of operation due to cyberattacks. We can't reveal the sources but hopefully one day those affected reveal the measures taken so that it does not happen again."
