FERC rejection exposes Trump's limits in helping coal

David Cherney, an energy and utility expert at PA Consulting Group, is quoted in E&E News discussing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s rejection of Energy Secretary Rick Perry's proposal to subsidize coal and nuclear power plants.

David says: "I think we're going to see continued change, similar to what we’ve seen in the power sector.”

He adds: "While environmental regulation has been a factor in some coal plant closures, economics has been the main driver in their retirement."
