Rimi to put the brakes on its downturn

Mads Kvernen Kleppe and Stig Tore Laugen

Dagens Næringsliv

4 February 2015

PA retail expert, Erik Fagerlid, is quoted in an article in Dagens Næringsliv. Erik discusses grocery chain Rimi’s reverse in fortunes.

The article explains how trade giants Norgesgruppen and Rema have continued to grow – and now have 64 per cent of the grocery market – while Rimi has struggled with declining market share for years. However, it now looks like the chain is about to reverse this trend.

Erik says better terms from vendors and more motivated store managers can be the key reasons why the Rimi may now be in the process of reversing its downturn.

He goes onto say: “The brand has taken many beatings from the public in the last five years, but they now have stores which offer a good service and have a loyal customer base.”
