PA’s Alastair McAulay, an IT expert, is quoted in Computer Reseller News in an article about 3D printing. The article looks at the future of 3D printing and Alastair gives his predictions.

Alastair explains: “The general population will not immerse themselves in freeware CAD packages, abandon buying things in the shops, and make everything from bath plugs to baby toys on their own 3D printers.”

Alastair goes on to say that the technology of 3D printing will take off in the business world within certain niches. Alastair uses the example of a company that could “print a replica of your newborn baby’s foot” to illustrate his point.

Alastair continues: “The ecosystem of 3D printing service companies will expand to make it easier for people to print things that have value to them.”
