Change ripples through the fish tank

Andrew Hill

Financial Times

PA Consulting Group’s executive chairman, Jon Moynihan, is quoted in an article in the Financial Times Business of Consulting special report. The article looks at the future of the consulting industry in the post-crisis era and discusses a possible shift towards more specialised companies.

The article recounts how, in the early 1990s, PA Consulting Group remade itself as a “distinctive specialist consulting firm, developing products and innovative manufacturing techniques alongside its clients”.

Jon Moynihan, who retires as PA’s executive chairman at the end of this year points out that at one point in the 1970s, PA was one of the largest consultancies in the world. “This firm thought that doing good work for clients was enough”, he says. “It is essential but it is not enough”.
