Cybersecurity at CeBIT fair

BBC World News

16 March 2015

PA Consulting Group’s Mark Skilton, a cyber security expert, is interviewed on BBC World News. Mark comments on the CEBIT fair in Germany, where many Chinese technology companies will be exhibiting their technology marvels this week. This year’s theme at CEBIT is cyber security.

Mark explains that this is the first time the Chinese technology industry is taking such a high profile presence at the event. With the rise of the internet and the Chinese economy growing, he identifies it as a ‘shift to the East’.

Mark talks about some of the issues relating to cyber security that will be discussed at the event. He explains that he sees the event as an opportunity for governments to set the record straight in terms of building commerce and addressing personal privacy and government privacy.

He adds that there is a rise of a different type of ‘21st century cyber warfare’. This is because criminals may be acquiring financial gain but there is also a rise in sophisticated spying by governments.
