PA predicts car makers will miss their CO2 emissions target

PA Consulting’s latest CO2 emissions research for car makers is featured in a story reported on BBC Radio 4, revealing that car makers will face EU fines for failing to hit their targets on carbon dioxide emissions.

The report noted PA’s latest research, which predicted that Fiat Chrysler and several other companies are likely to breach their target.

The piece goes on to mention Fiat’s plan to avoid the fines, as the company agrees that vehicles made by Tesla will count towards its target thereby reducing Fiat’s average emissions. This arrangement, the report says, is allowed under EU rules as long as it is made on commercial terms, however, environmental campaigners say the deal shows the failure of Fiat to invest in clean and low emissions technology in good time.
