Farming technology

PA’s Aaron Croucher, a technology expert, talks to BBC Look East about new technologies for the farming industry.

The presenter explains that farmers and investors met in Cambridge this week to take a look at high tech gadgets aimed at the agriculture market, including inventions in the form of robotic weeders and strawberry pickers.

The presenter explains that at Agri-Tech East’s REAP conference, technology came in a lot of different shapes and sizes and PA Consulting Group was one company that has been able to put a whole laboratory into a smartphone.

Talking about PA’s work on the smartphone laboratory, Aaron says: “Farmers are now being asked to monitor more and more things such as what’s in their soil and the microbes in the leaf tissue of the plant. This technology means that they can now do the analysis in the field using their own mobile phone.”
