Changes to your grocery shopping

Marita E. Valvik

7 October 2014

PA grocery expert, Erik Fagerlid, is quoted in an article published in Aftenposten discussing how online shopping could change the face of the grocery market.

The article highlights how retail chain Rema 1000 has recently joined other outlets in offering online shopping. Erik says: “it is an important milestone for the Norwegian grocery market.”

Erik explains that many consumers are longing for a strong online shopping offering, and that the industry needs to change to accommodate it. He predicts that both Co-op and Norway Group will soon reveal its online plans.

The article concludes by highlighting how around 5% of the UK’s grocery sales comes from online shopping, but that many online customers in Norway and overseas reduce their number of shop visits when they move over to online shopping – leading to a fall in impulse buying and additional sales.
