Francesco Pavoni, head of MENA at PA Consulting, is quoted in a cover story for 999 Magazine on smart automobiles, transport systems and AI in the United Arab Emirates.
Francesco says that the United Arab Emirates is leading the way in transport and communications industry. All means of transport in Dubai, excluding air options, will be merged under one integrated system to be managed by a central command and control centre. This system will be developed as part of a new strategy by the Road & Transport Authority in Dubai, which uses the most up-to-date technologies and is looking to develop the transport system further to also include automated vehicles.
With regards to how to use the modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation in roads and transport systems, he says 25% of the transportation means in Dubai will be automated by year 2030. Dubai is actively seeking to achieve this target when they first experimented with a service of auto taxi cars in the city at the beginning of 2018.
He adds that PA supports artificial intelligence projects, as it is deemed to be one of the most exciting areas of development for the coming years. The AI industry is quickly being developed with positive results and can be used extensively in the transport sector, such as helping to predict when roads will need scheduled maintenance.
