PA Consulting Group and the Cambridge cluster

Dr Carys Lloyd

29 January 2015

PA Consulting Group’s Dr Carys Lloyd, a technology expert, is interviewed on S4C, a Welsh language channel. The news item examines the recent investment of the Welsh government in the life sciences sector and visits PA’s Cambridge Technology Centre to find out how Wales can replicate the success of the Cambridge cluster.
Carys talks about some of the innovations that PA has created at its Cambridge Technology Centre: “We developed an orbital inhaler for a client which is a new way of getting powder to the lungs in order to treat Turburculoisis and Cystic Fibrosis.”
Carys goes on to talk about the role of technology in the Cambridge economy: “Technology is changing so quickly and this helps to boost the economy.  In the case of Cambridge you can see the emergence of the Cambridge cluster phenomenon.”

Asked if Wales can replicate the success of the Cambridge cluster, Carys comments: “Wales can absolutely take advantage of such a model and establish a network between universities, companies and investors.”
