PA IT transformation expert, Søren Lehn, has had a byline article published in which he shares his view on how IT departments benefit from the use of AI and automation. According to Søren, AI and automation enable cost reductions and improve quality and security. Most IT departments and CIOs realise this but don’t seem to understand the full potential.
Søren explains: “IT departments need to understand how to combine AI and automation with agile methods such as DevOps which bring together development and operations – enabling a constant improvement and expansion of existing IT systems.”
To do this, CIOs and their IT departments need to identify where in the organisation AI and automation can be deployed and then develop a roadmap that supports the overall strategy. Next, CIOs need to simplify the services provided by the IT department and reduce complexity and accelerate automation. Moreover, routine processes should be automated and employees’ tasks changes from routine operations to more strategic functions, which will increase the value they add to the business.
“The full return of AI and automation will not show immediately. It takes time but a more strategic use of AI and automation will enable a transformation of the way CIOs and IT departments deliver their IT services,” concludes Søren.
