Prioritising company data is vital

CIO Magazine

9 November 2012

PA gives their view on how security and the protection of company data have changed dramatically in recent years.

In the article, PA comments: “Increased external integration makes sense from a corporate perspective. However, in terms of security, it has increased the level of complexity.”

PA adds that one significant security risk lies with employees, whose use of social media poses the threat of confidential information being communicated externally.

Moreover, a security breach may happen much more rapidly now than before due to increasingly skilled cyber criminals. PA encourages companies to respond to this threat and to implement a strategic and well-defined security policy:

“In order to ensure a balance between what is optimal for the organisation and what is acceptable in terms of security, the company needs to proactively integrate security in company procedures based on an assessment of the potential damage that a security breach would cause.”
