Is innovation on the decline in the UK?

Frazer Bennett

BBC Breakfast

15 January 2014

PA’s Frazer Bennett, technology expert, has been interviewed on BBC Breakfast – a national TV news programme broadcast on BBC One and BBC News – on whether UK innovation is on the decline.

Commenting on the fact that not one UK firm has appeared in the Thompson Reuters Top 100 Innovators list for the past two years, Frazer says:

“I was initially surprised that there was not one [UK] firm in the top 100, but actually when you look at it, it is amazing how many of those companies have a substantial presence in the UK and they’ve come to the UK specifically because of our ability to innovate and think innovatively. So although the companies themselves are not UK companies, they all have a presence here and it’s centred around innovation.”
