Our Global Innovation and Technology Centre in Cambridge UK, is the heart of PA’s international network of design, engineering and innovation centres. It’s where we turn ingenious ideas into physical and digital reality.
From medical devices to manufacturing equipment, from consumer products to digital experiences, it’s where we create, prototype, test and build technology-based solutions to our clients' most important challenges.
square meters of design studios, scientific laboratories and engineering workshops
scientists, designers, engineers and technologists
innovations delivered across industry, government and defence
Understanding and exploiting the complex interplay between consumers, brands and the physical and digital worlds they inhabit, is critical to business success.
We access user communities world-wide to
conduct strategic market research and analyse wide ranges of data to
reframe problems, uncover user needs, articulate business opportunities
and form new hypotheses. Using our own Observatory and a mix of
analytical and evaluative human factors methods, we test and prove
product concepts that are compelling, safe, effective and easy to use.
We unify teams around a shared vision for the future.
Design has always been about envisioning exceptional products. And now, at a time when the speed and quality of innovation is critical to business success, design can offer so much more. By amplifying design with science and engineering, we conceive and deliver ingenious new products, services and experiences, driving innovation further, faster.
By
combining user needs and business goals with our expertise in
technology, industrial design, mechanical, electrical and software
engineering, we solve incredibly complex design problems with elegant,
functional solutions.
From cutting costs to embracing new technologies or producing new-to-world products, we can help global organisations reinvent their manufacturing capability.
Our cross-sector manufacturing and
engineering teams specialise in using new materials and technologies to
improve efficiency, reliability and sustainability. They develop new
machines from the ground up and find adjustments and technological
additions to integrate with your existing plant, control systems and
people. As the world redefines supply chains globally, we ensure
manufacturing processes evolve to meet the challenge.
We help you harness the full potential of data and connectivity. Our data scientists devise systems for gathering more relevant data from your existing processes and networks, as well as ways to extract actionable insights from the information. Our expertise in machine learning and AI delivers advances in automation and predictive analytics to drive competitiveness and growth.
We also develop solutions
to complex digital ecosystem problems, defining multi-channel digital
experiences founded on user research. Our teams cover experience
strategy, TCE, UX and UI, information architecture, content design,
prototyping, user testing, dashboard and data visualisation, IoT,
embedded interfaces and more.
We make sure your organisation is designed to deliver incremental and breakthrough innovation, so your organisation can grow and stay ahead of the competition. Using our extensive innovation experience across organisations and sectors, we’ll help you align innovation to business strategy, improve research and development effectiveness, reduce time to market and deliver a roadmap for the technologies you should develop, acquire and evolve.
Our intellectual property experts will help
you devise a strategy that optimises your investments and protects your
competitive advantage.

Achieving the impossible
With the coronavirus pandemic escalating and the country fast running out of life-saving ventilators, the UK Government asked PA to lead one of the largest mobilisations of innovation, science and engineering since the Second World War. Against all odds, the UK Ventilator Challenge made sure that everyone in the UK who needed a ventilator got one.
Revolutionising cell and gene therapy manufacturing
Ori’s platform technology has the potential to enable the production of cell and gene therapies at market scale, for market relevant cost, making it possible for patients to get access to high quality, affordable cell therapies earlier in the treatment pathway. As Ori’s design and development partner, we are accelerating product development towards launch.
Developing lightweight recyclable packaging for a craft spirits company
Dunnet Bay Distillers, a Scottish distillery that makes the award-winning Rock Rose Gin, wanted to reduce its environmental footprint as it grew its business. We helped develop recyclable spirits packaging that eradicates the need to use a single use bottle and also reduces costs.
Using the power of design to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission road transport
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) wanted to encourage more people to switch to EVs. So, we teamed up with the Royal College of Art to design the blueprint for an emblematic chargepoint as recognisable as Britain’s red post boxes or black cabs.
Developing a low-cost approach to producing sustainable packaging
PulPac have developed an innovative production method that can replace single use plastic at a lower cost. From circular product design, to material science and manufacturing process development, our multi-disciplinary skilled teams enabled PulPac to rapidly grow and scale its technology.
