Patent portfolios are a potentially valuable asset to an organisation, but their true value can be realised only when the valuable patents in the portfolio can be identified and exploited.
Large organisations may have extensive portfolios of intellectual property (IP) covering a wide range of technologies. To optimise licensing revenues, licensing divisions need to understand which patents have value; which relate to existing products and can be demonstrated to infringe, or are likely to become useful in the near future.
PA's IPR experts have a unique combination of skills: in addition to developing technologies for our clients we understand patent claim language and how to locate valuable patents.
Rapid patent evaluation service
PA has developed a unique rapid patent evaluation process which allows us to scan patent portfolios and locate and evaluate the clients' patents that may have technical merit.
The rapid patent evaluation process locates potentially interesting patents from large candidate lists provided by our clients. PA’s engineers then work with patent attorneys to evaluate these potentially valuable patents in detail, including developing claim charts and identifying prior art where appropriate.
PA’s intellectual property services process leverages our industry expertise and engineering capability in IP.
Track record
PA’s efforts helped companies such as Siemens to grow its essential IP portfolio in wireless technologies and present a clear picture of the portfolio to its licensees.
Peter Berg, Siemens' Head of Licensing and Transactions, Corporate Intellectual Property, comments: “PA’s ability to quickly evaluate patents has been a great help in optimising the performance of Siemens’ wireless communications patent portfolio”.
