Major rebuild heralds new look for PA Consulting Group’s Cambridge Technology Centre in the UK
PA Consulting Group – the leading international management, systems and technology consultancy, formally opened its newly refurbished Cambridge Technology Centre on Monday 21 May 2007. Unveiling of the commemorative plaque at the 126,000 sq ft PA facility marked the culmination of complex four year project to update an original ‘hi-tech’ building design by Sir Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano.
The refurbishment of PA’s award-winning Cambridge Technology Centre, considered advanced and innovative at the time of its construction in the 1970s, has preserved the best aspects of its original design – a high level of natural light throughout even to central areas, good acoustics and a flexible layout. The project has encompassed a complete refit of the building - installation of a new ventilation system, better constructional insulation, a new IT network, automatic lighting, addition of office ‘breakout areas’ and creation of a new reception area with interactive display - whilst retaining its laboratories and machine room facilities. The project has involved 70 separate companies in over 250,000 work hours, all planned to cause minimal disruption to PA personnel.
In the company of Bruce Tindale, PA’s Chief Executive Officer, and other key colleagues, the plaque was unveiled by Dr Alec MacAndrew, PA’s Global Head of Technology and Healthcare and a Member of PA’s Management Group. Dr MacAndrew comments:“The new environment at PA's Technology Centre enhances our ability to deliver innovative and strategic technology services to our clients worldwide, reflects our status as an employee-owned company, and provides an even more attractive, comfortable and stimulating workplace.”
