What do you enjoy about working at PA?
Since I joined eight years ago PA has helped to me grow and develop my own niche in the consultancy profession. My recent assignments include improving performance for a transport organisation and managing an off-shoring project for a financial institution. PA’s Project management practice offers a broad range of challenging assignments for its consultants; furthermore, it works with other practices to give its consultants wider exposure in the consulting industry.
PA is a meritocracy and is committed to recruiting, promoting and remunerating its employees based solely on the basis of their ability to contribute to PA’s objectives. As a consequence the onus is on you to take responsibility for your career - and as I’m interested in my own career I like that challenge. To support you in achieving your goal, there’s a strong support network in the practice and across PA which will enable you to challenge and push yourself further.
Unlike other consulting firms PA follows a 'diamond' model (as opposed to the traditional triangle), with most consultants being ranked halfway up 'the ladder'. This model helps to retain a greater proportion of experienced, well-seasoned consultants able to deliver assignments and manage the client interface. As a result, PA is able to provide experienced consulting teams who are able to deliver the best projects and add significant value to the client.
How has PA helped you to develop your career?
Since progressing through the ranks in PA, I have been able to take on increased responsibility for managing client relationships and the delivery of the assignment. At the same time, I have an even greater influence in shaping the future of PA, and in particular the Project management practice, through business development activities and line management responsibilities.
I find working closely with senior client teams, providing business advice and coaching to be very rewarding. It is an amazing feeling knowing that you have helped to shape and guide their projects and programmes to deliver long lasting benefits, and that your contribution has improved the growth of a company or even possibly moulded the future of an industry.
I always believe that you get out of your career as much as you put in. I have relished the opportunity for rapid career progression in PA and expect others will find the same rewarding experience.
