Smooth justice

This week saw the first successful prosecution at the new Tsim Sha Tsui trial centre. After a 12-month project to completely overhaul the Hong Kong courts system with technology, this first conviction is a significant achievement for the Justice Reform Programme.
In the trial, Jonny Lau was convicted of driving without due care and attention after 17-year-old Amy Lee was knocked off her bicycle. The incident took place on 8 November 2011. Amy has now made a full recovery and was in court to observe sentencing.
