Earlier this week, the story of the healthcare employee attempting to sell patient medical data caused shock among patients and privacy advocates everywhere.
The arrested woman was employed to perform maintenance on a private healthcare surgery’s database, as part of a regular upgrade to their patient care system. According to an insider, the data she stole was “the link between patient identity information and their unique medical record ID.”
