Education bytes back!
Birmingham, UK, 2015
Education Minister Adam Dalton announced yesterday that increased access to new technology in schools could reduce truancy.
The announcement comes after the launch of a recent government collaboration with a number of private-sector IT organizations, to form the MIE (Management Information in Education) consortium, whose objective is to supply schools with new IT systems.
Speaking from Birmingham’s Treegrove Secondary School, where the collaboration has been piloted, Mr Dalton argued that IT access in the classroom meant students were more motivated to learn, and teachers were able to ‘encourage’ attendance rather than depend on the traditional ‘command and control’ policing approach.
