Major wireless operator - A 100% productivity gain gives a major US wireless operator a competitive edge
The competitive battleground in the US wireless market has been dominated by network quality. All of the major operators have injected significant amounts of capital in their networks to service a growing customer base using both voice and data services. With significant competition for capital needed to develop new broadband services, operators need to find ways to increase network development productivity and get the most out of their investment.
It was in this business environment that PA Consulting Group was engaged by one of the largest wireless operators in the US, with a customer base in excess of 15 million and growing, to help them achieve a 40% increase in development targets for the year in their largest and most challenging region.
The joint PA/Client team approached the challenge in two distinct ways –setting up an overarching program management structure to improve overall management performance in the region, and deploying small ‘tiger teams’ in critical markets to drive performance improvement delivery team level. These teams in turn communicated and shared best practice improvements with the other markets in the region, making sure that success could be replicated and shared.
