Achieving network reliability through organizational transformation

Following a period of massive subscriber growth in the US wireless market, emphasis of the key players shifted away from pure growth to that of increased retention of existing customers. A major US wireless operator with over 20 million subscribers, which had grown through acquisition of regional wireless operators, needed to improve network reliability and operational performance while maintaining a competitive low-cost operation to ensure long term growth and profitability. In order to achieve this, the client needed to standardize regional and market operations and implement a set of process improvement initiatives that would deliver the step change in operational performance.

Building off of global telecom operational expertise, PA Consulting Group was engaged to define the engineering and operations organizational blueprint for the national, regional and market functions and oversee the nationwide implementation of the standard model. The standard organization enabled the wireless operator to implement m  or process improvements – delivering a step change in network reliability across the organization.
