Femtocell access points can deliver the right price for a low volume product

Femtocell Access Points employing a collapsed network architecture can be implemented on a single-chip digital platform, meeting the need for a low-cost, high volume product.

With an immediate requirement for WCDMA Femtocell equipment and a roadmap to other standards,  the predictions are that tens of millions of access points will be needed.

In view of the high volumes, a single-chip solution is very attractive to infrastructure manufacturers and also consumer product manufacturers not currently active in the cellular telecommunication sector.
