Never before have information and communications been so central to transportation.
From the user’s viewpoint, mobile communication devices are now commonplace and people are expecting more from them, including real-time information and booking services.
From the transport provider’s viewpoint, delivering transport efficiently means being able to manage and adapt to ever-increasing congestion, provide greater frequency of public transportation, and improve efficiency of handling operations.PA is continually working in technologies that impact the transport sector, and works with clients to apply them.
In this document we describe the following key technologies and illustrate how they are already being used and point to new applications in the future: GPS / Galileo, GSM/GPRS/3G, RFID, WiMAX, Bluetooth and DSRC.
