Danish and Swedish state-owned Air Navigation Service Providers
Scandinavia shows the way on air traffic control
The NUAC Programme – flight safety is paramount
What is the best possible way to change the structure of the Danish and the Swedish state-owned Air Navigation Service Providers: lower costs and maintain or enhance the current level of flight safety? PA is assisting the Swedish LFV and Danish Naviair in analysing the potential of different scenarios for co-operation as part of the joint NUAC Programme. Through this initiative, the two Nordic state-owned Air Navigation Service Providers ride up front on the wave of consolidation which the entire European Air Traffic Management industry is facing.
Today there are approximately 40 Air Navigation Service Providers in Europe – a number which does not reflect the actual needs. The historical tradition of national monopoly companies weighs on the cost side, as Air Navigation Services are in the top five of main expenses for the airline companies along with eg staff and fuel. Therefore it is no surprise that the EU is working on promoting more efficient Air Traffic Management in Europe.
