Case study
Barclays Finance
Building long term growth and profitability
Barclays Finance, an Australian subsidiary of Barclays Bank, faced declining profits and a deteriorating national economic environment. No one fully understood what had gone wrong. Barclays asked PA to apply its financial industry and project management experience to help management identify the underlying problems, suggest how profit performance could be lifted and subsequently ensure the required changes were implemented successfully. In 12 months, profitability was lifted from little more than zero to AUS$10 million, close to the bank’s target of 15% return on capital.
