Introducing environmental management best practices

PA developed a comprehensive list of 'best practices' for hotels, resort condominiums and golf course operations that is being reviewed by a project steering committee comprising representatives of the county's Public Works Department, Hotel Association, Landscapers' Association, and Convention and Visitors Bureau. Once accepted by the steering committee, PA will program the best practices into a Web-based application on its Travel and Tourism Web site, which will provide for self-auditing by representatives of the target enterprises. PA's Environmental Performance Database provides users with a score for each facility and area of operation, environmental aspect, and an overall score. The scores will serve as the basis for annual Environmental Achievement Awards presented by the County and its Hotel Association.
